Red Poppy With Brown Center

Red Poppy With Brown Center

£60.00Price

This Red Ceramic Poppy is hand-made using high-quality, frost-proof stoneware clay.

A beautifully glazed ceramic flower designed to sit effortlessly in any outdoor setting. Each sculpted bloom comes ready to display in the garden or a flowerpot, fitted with a sturdy iron stem measuring 6 mm in width and 50 cm in length.

This design was developed in 2018 to commemorate the end of WW1 one hundred years ago. 100 poppies were displayed around a sculpture of the un-known soldier in the beautiful garden at RHS Rosemoor.

A total of 750 poppies were made involving my husband and 2 children, helping out with cutting stems, rolling out clay, and cutting out petals. I gave a cheque for £2000 to the Poppy Appeal and Help for Heroes!

Renée Kilburn, a UK-based ceramic artist, has spent more than 30 years developing this distinctive glazing technique, making each piece truly one of a kind. The colours are vivid and glossy—an unexpected contrast to the strength and durability of stoneware clay—bringing a vibrant touch to any space.

Dimensions: 15 cm wide and 55 cm tall.

Please note that each piece is handmade and hand-painted, so small variations are natural and make every flower unique. The item you receive may differ slightly from the one shown in the photos. If you’d like to see the exact flower(s) that will be sent, just let me know, and I’ll be happy to provide a photograph.

  • Cleaning Instructions

Keeping your ceramic flower sculpture looking its best is straightforward and requires only a few simple steps. Begin by submerging it in fresh water to loosen any dirt or residue that may have accumulated.

Using a suitable brush, gently scrub the surface of the flower to ensure it is clean. Once finished, rinse the flower thoroughly to remove any remaining debris.

    Caring for the Iron Stem

The iron stem of your ceramic flower is designed to develop a natural rusted finish over time, allowing it to blend harmoniously with its outdoor surroundings. If you prefer to remove the rust and restore the stem’s original look, scrub the stem gently with a metal scourer, rinse it well, and dry it off before placing it back in your garden or display area.
