'Fertile Garden' Ceramic Female Form Flower Vase
'Fertile Garden' Ceramic Female Form Flower Vase, is a one-off and unique piece, hand-made using strong and durable stoneware clay.
I was inspired to make this vase while taking part in Sharon Griffin's online Clay Club. We explored the human body, the structure of it and movement too. It was a great experience and I am very pleased with the result! I can't wait to make some more.
The shape is built up over time as the lower slabs need firming up before I continue with the neck and head, otherwise the piece will distort.
When I am satisfied with the shape, all the details are hand modelled and added. This is a wonderful part of the process when the vase comes to life. I add them spontaneously, whatever comes to mind when looking at the shape.
Depending on the climate and time of year and size of the product, the work is left to dry for 2 - 4 weeks. When fully dry, it goes through a bisque firing, then gets glazed in a white shiny stoneware glaze and fired for the 2nd time.
After this the shiny colourful glazes are painted on by hand and I make these glazes up from a base powder, adding different % of oxides and colour stains to achieve my unique colourful finish. Then I fire the kiln for the 3rd and hopefully last time, if I am happy with the result.
The final result is unique, very tactile and colourful work of art/sculpture that is useful and waterproof too.

This item is carefully packaged to arrive in good condition, using recyclable materials whenever possible. Bubble wrap is applied around the ceramic sculpture for added protection.

If you wish to return this piece for any reason, please ensure that you wrap and package it exactly as it arrived to you. This is essential to prevent any breakage during transit. Send the item back to me within 21 days of receiving it.
Please note that the customer is responsible for all return shipping costs. Once the returned piece has arrived at my studio and I have had the opportunity to inspect it for any damage, I will refund the price of the piece to you.
